Matrix Riot App Set Up


The most important step in setting up the Matrix Riot.im apps for phone or for computer download is typing in the correct home server to connect to. This is absolutely crucial for connecting to our Asylum network so you can chat with us.

Phone Apps
Download and Open the Riot.im app
  1. >>Crucial step<< You must tick the checkbox that says "Use custom server options (advanced)"
  2. In the blank labeled "Home Server URL" which opens up, type in https://matrix.anxiety.live
  3. a) New app users then must choose a User name and a secure but memorable Password and Create an Account. *Note* If you have visited our chat rooms before, you may choose the same nickname you use to access the chats by other methods.  
    b) Users who have previously set up a Matrix account with us using the [m]Matrix Riot website chat or the Matrix computer app can choose Log In and provide their existing User name and Password.

   
Computer App - New to Matrix
for those who have never set up a Matrix account with us

Download and install the Riot app
(Windows, MacOS, or Linux)

After Choosing Register:
  1. Click the Advanced tile for other public server
  2. Enter the Homeserver URL https://matrix.anxiety.live then click Next
  3. Choose a Username and a secure but memorable Password and click Register. *Note* If you have visited our chat rooms before, you may choose the same name you use to access the chats by other methods.


Computer App - Existing User
for those who have already registered a Matrix account with us
Download and install the Riot app
(Windows, MacOS, or Linux)

After choosing Sign In:
  1. Click on the Green word Change at the end of the first sentence
  2. Enter the Homeserver URL https://matrix.anxiety.live then click Next
  3. Enter the Username and Password you used when you created an account on the Riot.im phone app or on the [m]Martix Riot website chat and Sign In
